Xi presents orders to promote military officers to rank of general: Xinhuanet

Xi Jinping, chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), on Monday presented certificates of order at a ceremony to promote five senior military officers to the rank of general. The ceremony was held by the CMC in Beijing. General is the highest rank for officers in active service in China.The promoted officers are Commander of the Western Theater Command of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Wang Haijiang, Commander of the PLA Central Theater Command Lin Xiangyang, Commander of the PLA Navy Dong Jun, Commander of the PLA Air Force Chang Dingqiu, and President of the PLA National Defence University XuXueqiang.

Over 8,000 China-Europe freight train trips made through Xinjiang: Xinhuanet

The Alataw Pass and Horgos Port, major rail ports in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, handled more than 8,000 China-Europe freight train trips in the first eight months of 2021, said local railway authorities. Alataw Pass reported a 28.4-percent growth of the trips during the period, while the other port registered a nearly 40-percent increase of China-Europe freight train trips compared to the prior year. During the period, the trains transported about 3.1 million tonnes of cargo through the Alataw Pass, up by 47.9 percent. Over 6 million tonnes of cargo were transported via the Horgos Port, up by 50.9 percent, year on year.

China holds international peacekeeping drill: Xinhuanet

China on Monday started holding an international peacekeeping drill code-named “Shared Destiny-2021.” It is the first time the Chinese military has organized such a multi-national live drill on peacekeeping, with the participation of troops from countries including China, Mongolia, Pakistan and Thailand. The drill is held at a combined-arms tactical training base of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Army in central China’s Henan Province.
The scenario of the exercise is joint operations of multi-national peacekeeping forces, and the exercise will be held in a close-to-real battlefield environment set in accordance with the international, professional and realistic combat standards.

SinaWeibo bans BTS fan account over fundraising: Taipei Times

China’s SinaWeibo has banned a fan club of K-pop band BTS from posting for 60 days, saying that it had raised funds illegally, days after photographs of a customized airplane funded by the fan club were posted online. The fan club account, which had more than 1.1 million followers on the social media platform, focused on BTS member Jimin.
