Chinese President Xi Jinping has appointed nine new ambassadors in accordance with a decision by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, according to a statement from China’s top legislature on Thursday. Sun Haiyan was appointed China’s ambassador to Singapore, replacing Hong Xiaoyong. Zhang Jianwei was appointed ambassador to Kuwait, replacing Li Minggang. It said Xu spoke about creating television shows that focus on ordinary people’s stories for the ruling party’s national congress later this year. It was the first confirmation that Xu has been appointed to the top job at the NRTA and comes ahead of a twice-a-decade political reshuffle at the party congress, to be held in autumn.
