The steps taken the Government of India to address the problem of benami transactions across the country.

Cases pertaining to ‘Panama Papers’ (06 November 2017)
The Government constituted a Multi-Agency Group (MAG) on 4th April 2016, inter alia, to
facilitate co-ordinated and speedy investigation of Indians listed in the Panama Papers.

CBDT notifies rules in respect of Country-by-Country reporting and furnishing of Master File (01 November 2017)
After examining the recommendations of the Committee set up in this regard, and comments and suggestions received from stakeholders and general public, the Central Board of Direct Taxes has notified the rules for maintaining and furnishing of transfer pricing documentation in the Master File and Country-by-Country report.

Constitution of Task Force for drafting a New Direct Tax Legislation (22 November 2017)
In order to review the Act and to draft a new Direct Tax Law in consonance with economic needs of the country, the Government has constituted a Task Force.

Expenditure on Deployment of CAPF (11 April 2017)

As per the extant policy of Government of India, the States are required to bear the cost of deployment of Central Armed Police Forces in their states at the prescribed rates. The requests have been examined but not agreed to in view of the extant policy of the Government of India.

FDI in Defence Production (28 July 2017)
Government vide Press Note No. 5 of 2016 Series dated 24.06.2016 has notified revised Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy on various sectors including Defence. According to the new policy, FDI up to 49% is under automatic route and beyond 49% is through government route wherever it is likely to result in access to modern technology or for other reasons to be recorded.

Industrially Backward States (24 July 2017)
Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) was implementing Schemes for development of North East region and Special Package Scheme for Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir, which have now ended.

Minimum Support Price for Minor Forest Produce is launched Nationwide (25 September 2017)
Shri Jual Oram, Minister of Tribal Affairs said that this workshop is a step to expand the horizon of the scheme of providing Minimum Support Price for Minor Forest Produce. This scheme is already implemented in 9 States and today it is expanded nationwide.

Prime Minister Constitutes Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) (25 September 2017)
The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has constituted the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM). The five-member council consists of economists of high repute and  eminence. The EAC-PM is an independent body to give advice on economic and related issues to the Government of India, specifically to the Prime Minister.

Task Force on Employment and Exports and its Terms of Reference (06 September 2017)
To provide a major thrust to job creation by enhancing India’s exports, an Expert Task Force has, been constituted with the NITI Aayog Vice Chairman, Dr. Rajiv Kumar, as its Chairperson.

Union Home Minister reviews measures to check cyber crimes in financial sector (13 November 2017)
Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh chaired a meeting of all agencies concerned and representatives of relevant states for curbing the financial sector frauds emanating from the usage of cards and e-wallets in particular.

Current Northeast Budget (16 March 2017)
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that the current budget for Northeast for 2017-18 is around Rs. 50,000 crore which is significantly higher than that in earlier years and is also an indication of high priority that the Modi Government accords to the development of that region.
