Assault Rifles (11 August 2017 )
Rifle Factory Ishapore (RFI) successfully developed Rifle 5.56 x 45mm Excalibur in association with Army. The Gun has been tried by the Indian Army and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). RFI has already supplied around 20000 Nos. Excalibur Rifles to various Police Forces

Biometric Access Control System at Airports (20 July 2017)
A project, namely, ‘Bio-metric Access Control System at Airports’ with a cost of Rs.33.23 crore, has been approved for implementation at 72 airports by Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, the regulatory authority of civil aviation security in India.

Cabinet approves MoU on Upgradation of the Women’s Police Training Centre at Yamethin, Myanmar (04 October 2017)
The MoU covers upgradation of the Yamethin Women’s Police Training Centre to further augment the capabilities of the Myanmar Government to build capacities of its police force with technical and financial assistance from Government of India.

Criteria to review performance of IPS Officers (22 March 2017)
The Review Committee reviews records of officers under Rule 16 (3) of All India Services (Death-Cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958 by keeping in mind two broad objectives; firstly, to weed out officers of doubtful integrity and secondly, to weed out officers who have outlived their utility and have become inefficient or ineffective.

Security establishment ( 14 March 2017)
Improvement in service conditions/amenities and welfare of the force personnel is a continuous endeavour. A study was got conducted through Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D) into the factors causing stress and suggest remedial measures.

Shortage of CAPF Personnel (11 April 2017)
Two additional Reserve Battalions have been sanctioned to CISF in June, 2016. Further, Government has increased the ceiling of strength of CISF from 1,45,000 to 1,80,000. The requirement of manpower for expansion/new induction is met from this enhanced strength on need basis.

Union Home Minister operationalises the New Intelligence Set-up of SSB (18 September 2017)
SSB has been declared as the Lead Intelligence Agency (LIA) for both the Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders. Thus, it was felt that a well knit intelligence network of the highest capabilities that can function and deliver would be the prime requirement of comprehensive Border Management.
